GCSE Media Studies (Eduqas)
Overview:
GCSE Media Studies enables pupils to explore how media products are created and how they influence audiences. Pupils study a range of media forms including advertising, print media, radio, video games, music videos and television crime drama.
Across the course, pupils develop skills in analysing media language, representation, audiences and media industries, while also completing a practical media production task. The subject encourages critical thinking, creativity and confident communication, preparing pupils for further study and future careers.

Summary of curriculum: |
In Year 10, students are introduced to the foundations of GCSE Media Studies. They explore how media products are constructed, how meanings are created, and how audiences are targeted and represented across a range of media forms. Students begin to develop analytical skills alongside an understanding of the media’s role in society. |

Pupils explore how meaning is constructed through moving image, sound and editing across a range of genres, with a particular focus on music videos and television crime drama. |
